Almond Housing Association
Almond Housing Association is a registered charity (number SC031696) that provides quality social housing for rent in Livingston and throughout West Lothian.
The Association was founded in 1994 to provide a choice for Livingston Development Corporation tenants who would otherwise transfer their tenancies automatically to West Lothian Council.
They are a member of the West Lothian Development Alliance which comprises three locally based Registered Social Landlords, Almond Housing Association, Horizon Housing Association and Weslo Housing Management.
The Alliance is a preferred development partner of West Lothian Council and is engaged in providing new homes for rent throughout West Lothian. Almond Housing Association is carrying out the Development Programme on behalf of the Alliance.
Almond Housing Association is now the largest Registered Social Landlord in the West Lothian area.
In 2005 Almond Housing Association took over the running of The Craigshill Community Initiative, a small communal stair cleaning company and Almond Enterprises was born!
Almond Housing Association set up Almond Enterprises for the purpose of meeting the associations “Wider Role” objectives. The Scottish Governments Wider Role initiative supports Housing Associations to undertake projects in their communities that go beyond their principle roles as landlords. Some of the key areas Almond Enterprises was set up to address are –
- Poverty, community decline and worklessness.
- Making early interventions for vulnerable individuals, families and disadvantaged communities.
- Improving employability as a means to tackling poverty.
- Supporting the economy, community and environment.
